כמה מילים על עצמי ועל המוסיקה שלי.
שמי דוד מורס, יליד ארצות הברית (1949) וחי מגיל תשע בישראל. גדלתי בקיבוץ הזורע והתחנכתי במשמר העמק והיום אני חבר קבוץ מגן. למדתי מוסיקה באקדמיה למוסיקה בתל-אביב ושנים שאני שר, מנצח וכותב למקהלות והרכבים. פרסמתי 3 חוברות (אוספים) של עיבודים שלי למקהלה א-קפלה, והקלטתי 2 דיסקים ובהם עיבודים שלי (עם מקהלת אשכול, ואנסמבל קולות רחוקים).

אני זוכר את הימים הרחוקים בהם גדלתי בקבוץ (החל משנת 1958), ונחשפתי בהם לזמר העברי כפי שהיה מקובל בשנות השישים בתנועה הקיבוצית. שם, בהיותי נער גם שמעתי לראשונה ביצועים והקלטות של מקהלה ללא ליווי, והדבר ריגש ורומם את נפשי. הרגשתי אז (וכך גם היום) שהשירה ושירת הא-קפלה הן צלילי המןסיקה היפים ביותר. רציתי לחוות את השירה הרב קולית מקרוב, רציתי לשמוע מקהלות והרכבים מן העולם הרחב. יותר מאוחר למדתי ניצוח באקדמיה למוסיקה והשתלמתי גם בחו”ל. התמקדתי בלימוד מוסיקה של האומנים הגדולים מן הרנסנס והבארוק. הקמתי מקהלה אזורית ובאופן טבעי התחלתי לעבד ולכתוב. הרגשתי צורך להלביש את השירים העבריים במלבוש רב קולי, וכך נולדו הרבה עיבודים חדשים.

העיבודים קובצו חלקם ב-3 חוברות שהוצאתי, ומבוצעים חלקם ע”י מקהלות בארץ וגם בחו”ל. אך היכולת להגיע לציבור המנצחים והזמרים באמצעים הישנים מוגבלת, וכאשר צבי שרף – יצא עם אתר עיבודים שלו, הצעתי לו להרחיב את האתר ולצרף מבחר שירים ועיבודים משלי. לשמחתי הוא נענה ברצון ועל כך אני אסיר תודה.

באתר תמצאו עיבודים, רובם למקהלה מעורבת א-קפלה, מיעוטם עם ליווי. בקרוב אפרסם עיבודים נוספים למקהלת נשים אשר נמצאים כעת בהכנה. היתרון באתר זה, הוא היכולת להחשף לתווים ולצלילי העיבוד בו זמנית. הרכישה היא קלה ואינטרנטית.
רכישת עותק בודד מאפשרת להכין עותקים להרכב כולו, לביצוע ע”פ מספר העותקים הנדרש. יחד עם זאת, הקניה מוגבלת להרכב קולי אחד בלבד. אני בטוח שתבינו את האילוץ הזה ותכבדו אותו.

Here are a few words about my background and music.

My name is David Morse. I was born in the United States in 1949 and have lived in Israel since I was nine years old. I grew up on Kibbutz Hazorea, and am now a member of Kibbutz Magen.
My music studies were at the Tel Aviv Academy of Music and for many years I have sung, conducted and written for choirs and ensembles. I have published three volumes (collections) of my arrangements for a cappella choir and recorded two CDs performed by the Eshkol Choir and Distant Voices Ensemble.

I remember the distant days when I was growing up on the kibbutz when I was drawn to the Hebrew songs that we sang regularly in the sixties in the kibbutz movement. At that time, when I was a boy, I also heard for the first time performances and recordings of choirs a-cappella and I was moved and elated by the sound. I felt then (and still today) that singing and a cappella singing are the most beautiful sounds that exist. I wanted to experience this multi voiced singing and to hear choirs and vocal ensembles from around the world. Later, I studied conducting at the Academy of Music and I concentrated on the great artists of the Renaissance and Baroque. I founded a regional choir and started composing and arranging. I felt the need to create new choral forms for the Hebrew songs and that brought many new arrangements to life.

Some of the choral arrangements were assembled into the three published books and many have been performed by choirs in Israel and also abroad. However, the former ways of reaching the populations of conductors and singers is limited, so when Tsvi Sherf came out with a website for his arrangements, I suggested that he expand the site to include a selection of my arrangements. To my delight, he responded with enthusiasm and I am very grateful.

In this website you will find arrangements, most for mixed a cappella choir and a few with accompaniment. Soon I will add arrangements for Women’s Choir. A feature of this site is the possibility of simultaneously viewing the score and listening to choral and midi performances. Purchasing is easy and done on the website.

Once you purchase a piece you are permitted to make copies for use in a single choir including in performance. If you intend to use the music with more than one choir, you will need to buy further copies. I am confident that you will understand and honor this restriction.
